Mypes represent 99.1 % of the existing companies in Peru, according to Peru: Corporate Structure 2017, published by INEI in November 2018, employing more than 8 million Peruvians. One of the main problems facing this sector is the level of productivity, which does not allow them to have competitive advantages compared to other companies in the market. Besides, 65.3 % of this type of companies are familiar ones, which, in many cases, do not count on with qualified professionals to optimize and manage the resources. This situation is further aggravated by the small entrepreneurs’ attitude of not hiring consultants because they think it is expensive and consider it is not necessary because they believe they already know everything and some of them refuse to change. Facing this situation, this article aims to provide the entrepreneurs with a “Self-Assessment Guide” that allows them to evaluate, identify and measure problems in the main areas of their businesses: logistics, operations, marketing, personnel, finance, and strategy. The methodology used corresponds to applied research, which is the type of research in which the problem is established and is known by the researcher, so he uses the research to answer specific questions.
