This study presents the process followed to obtain columnar grains in zinc and equiaxed grains in aluminum. The metal used was melted in a crucible and put into a mold with a cooling system created and adapted in Tecsup. The sample of zinc formed columnar grains, while aluminum samples formed equiaxed grains.
