Evaluation of the Water Quality Produced by a Purification System for Use in Chemical Analysis Laboratories

This applied and descriptive research aims to evaluate the quality of purified water for use in chemical analysis laboratories. It is a very useful and simple proposal that was applied to a water purification system for the laboratories of a higher education institution in Peru. This research consisted of the following stages: - Recognition of the water purification process through reverse osmosis equipment and ultrapure water. - Characterization of the feed water (pond water), osmotized water, and ultrapure water. A sampling plan was applied, and the physicochemical parameters to be determined were established. The analysis of the results indicates that the water obtained from the purification system does not meet the desired levels according to the recommendations of ISO 3696 and ASTM D1193 standards. The reverse osmosis water does not fit into any category, and the ultrapure water is actually type 3 (III). Finally, it is concluded that the water quality obtained from both systems does not meet expectations, indicating the need for maintenance of the purification equipment by the supplier.
