Abstract

The article aims to present a criticality model design for spare parts used in the assets of maintenance. With this tool, the productive performance of the assets will be optimized, since the approach of this model will guarantee the continuity of the production process under safety, quality, and environment care standards. The use of criticality models for spare parts, such as ABC, XYZ, and lost profits, has been analyzed, which do not guarantee optimal results if they are used in isolation form. Likewise, it has been identified the need to generate a model that integrates the most outstanding aspects related to spare parts management, among them: the importance for the assets maintenance, the impact on production, safety, and the environment, and the optimization of costs due to unnecessary inventories. The model focused on operational excellence in organizations meets all these conditions, in addition to crossing information with existing methodologies, and, with it, empowers the achievement of more reliable results. A model has been designed in which each category of spare parts for the maintenance of the assets has to be evaluated through seven factors with differentiated impacts on the main processes carried out in the several industrial sectors. This tool differentiates spare parts into three levels of criticality according to the total evaluation obtained. It is important to note that the u of this model will allow companies to catalog more efficiently the spare parts they use for assets maintenance. And, thanks to this, they will generate the appropriate optimization actions that will ensure the best reliability and availability of their production processes.
